Today I'm thinking about Praying Contemplatively..

Advent Begins!

holding-hands-280x310-cb158-06182014.jpg"What time is it?" "What's coming next?" At this time of the year many children ask these questions with a gleam in their eye; many adults ask the same questions with worry and sometimes fear.

When the Church asks these questions we ask not "what's coming?" but "Who!"  ADVENT is the beginning of the Church Year.  Advent is derived from the Latin adventus and means "the Coming;" it is a time of anticipation and preparation for those of us who are finding our meaning and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Advent is a perfect time to renew your spiritual journey!
As we bring our questions to the God we find that God has not not simply "come in the past" but "comes to us" as we exercise faith and trust.  We are finding that our fears are assauged though not eliminated; we are finding new capacity for joy and most importantly for love.

At St. Matthew we believe that the Great Tradition and modern knowledge are not in opposition but essential parts to our common journey.

Come learn the ancient/new ways of thoughtful, committed faith and experience the fulfillment that such a journey promises!
